Physical AI Is Korea's Moment — And Yours
The US-led AI investment boom — its peak may well be Physical AI.
When the Physical AI era arrives in full force, who will reap the rewards?
Korea is one of the few countries that can build the entire body - from start to finish - when AI takes physical form as humanoids, autonomous vehicles, autonomous ships, drones, and industrial robots. Memory chips, batteries, displays, precision components, motors, finished vehicles - Korea is arguably the only country with this kind of vertical integration across the full manufacturing stack. Hyundai Motor Group recently acquired Boston Dynamics, transforming itself into a robotics company.
China still lags in advanced memory. The US is strong in software and cutting-edge chip design, but weak in manufacturing capability. Japan and Germany - the traditional manufacturing powerhouses - remain solid in automotive, sensors, and precision engineering, but are no longer what they once were. Taiwan is a one-trick pony built on semiconductors. I believe that Korea's manufacturing portfolio is emerging as the center of a new era.
To international students reading this - research which industries in Korea are positioned to rise, choose a major aligned with them, and when you enter univeristies in Korea, study hard. If you do, I believe meaningful career opportunities will open up for you!
