F-5 Permanent Residency
Korea's permanent residency status — no visa renewal, freedom to change jobs, and near-equal treatment to Korean nationals in most areas of daily life.
F-5 via E-7 — Requirements
5-year residence
Continuous 5+ years on E-7 status in Korea. Gaps or status changes can reset the clock.
Income threshold
Average annual income ≥ ₩43,000,000 over the most recent 3 years (approximately 1× per-capita GNI).
Points score
80 points or above on the F-5 evaluation system (covers income, assets, Korean language, social contribution, etc.).
Korean language
TOPIK score is a component of the points system. Higher levels contribute more points.
Tax & insurance compliance
No outstanding income tax, VAT, or social insurance contributions.
Clean criminal record
No disqualifying criminal history in Korea or home country.
Social Integration Program (KIIP)
Participation provides additional points — not mandatory but recommended.

⚠️ The Income Gap — Plan Early
Starting at the E-7 minimum and staying there for 5 years will not qualify you for F-5. Target ₩43M+ by year 3 (so the 3-year average clears the threshold at time of application).
Application Process
Prepare all documents — this is the most document-intensive visa in the Korean system
Submit application at the immigration office in your area of residence (거주지 관할 출입국청)
Immigration conducts background checks — criminal record, tax, insurance, points calculation
Interview may be requested (not always required)
Processing time: approximately 3–6 months
If approved: F-5 ARC issued. Valid indefinitely (subject to residency maintenance).
